What is The Graduated Driver License Law?
Novice drivers will enter the GDL after successfully completing driver education and upon reaching the age of sixteen. In the first six months, novice drivers must be supervised by a licensed parent or other approved adult sponsor at all times while driving a motor vehicle. During the second six months, the novice driver may drive from 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. without adult supervision. After 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., adult supervision is required. Following a successful twelve (12) months of supervised driving experience, an unrestricted Class D license is granted.
