2021 DIAA Lacrosse and Tennis Champions

Dover, DE (May 28, 2021) Four teams won Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) championships yesterday in boys and girls lacrosse and boys and girls tennis.  

In the 2021 DIAA Tennis Championship which dates back to 1963, St. Andrew's School hosted the girls and boys tennis finals. The Tower Hill boys tennis team defended their 2019 state title and won the championship this year, which is their 5th DIAA tennis boys title all time. (There was no DIAA tennis championship in 2020 due to COVID-19.) The boys tennis champion runner up was Caesar Rodney.

The Dover girls tennis team defended their 2019 state title and won the girls tennis championship yesterday. This was Dover's 2nd girls tennis state title overall. Dover won all three singles titles which is the first time a school swept all the girls singles titles since 2006.

In DIAA Lacrosse Championship action which was hosted at Dover High School last night, the girls lacrosse #2 seed Cape Henlopen Vikings took home their 12th consecutive DIAA girls lacrosse title by defeating top seed and previously unbeaten Tatnall, 17-10. The Vikings have not lost to a fellow DIAA girls lacrosse program since May 2, 2009. This was Tatnall's first appearance in the championship game. Tatnall finishes the season with a record of 18-1.
#2 Salesianum took home the boys lacrosse championship, by defeating #5 Cape Henlopen, 12-10. This is Salesianum's 11th overall boys lacrosse state title, which was a rematch of the championship game in 2019, which saw Cape Henlopen come out on top.
