#1 Sanford tops #6 Smyrna 51-45 for 10th DIAA Boys Basketball State Title
Dover, DE (March 15, 2021) - In Saturday's Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) Boys Basketball State Championship, #1 Sanford (16-2) took home their 10th state title after defeating previously undefeated #6 Smyrna (19-1), 51-45. Smyrna took a 28-20 lead going into halftime, but the Warriors tied it up towards the end of the third quarter. The Warriors defense held tight and managed to get the go ahead points to win the championship in the final minutes of the contest. This is Sanford's tenth (10th) state title, also winning the championship in 2019, 2016, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2002, 1992, 1991, and 1986.
