Dover High School Wins DIAA Unified Basketball Championship


Dover, DE (March 15, 2021) - On Saturday, Dover High School won the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) Unified Basketball Championship. #2 Dover defeated #3 Indian River, 33-15. Dover held a small lead after the third quarter, and pulled away from Indian River in the fourth quarter to win the championship. Dover also won the Unified Football Championship in December, making the unified basketball championship their second title this year.
By partnering with Special Olympics Delaware (SODE), high school students with and without disabilities train and compete on the same team in the Unified Sports division. Participating schools, along with their athletic departments and administration, support Unified Sports and treat their SODE Unified teams as they do all other varsity sports -- accepted, respected, celebrated.
