DIAA Unified Basketball Championship Information


Dover, DE (March 8, 2021) - The Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) Unified Basketball Championship kicks off tonight. By partnering with Special Olympics Delaware (SODE), high school students with and without disabilities train and compete on the same team in the Unified Sports division. Participating schools, along with their athletic departments and administration, support Unified Sports and treat their SODE Unified teams as they do all other varsity sports -- accepted, respected, celebrated.
In the North, Appoquinimink is the #1 seed, followed by #2 Mckean and #3 Middletown. In the South, Caesar Rodney is the #1 seed, followed by #2 Dover, #3 Indian River, and #4 Seaford. #1 Caesar Rodney will have a bye tonight and will await the winner of #2 McKean vs. #3 Indian River in the semifinals which will be held on Wednesday, March 10 at 6 p.m. Three quarterfinal games will be played tonight, #4 Seaford at #1 Appoquinimink, #3 Middletown at #2 Dover, and #3 Indian River at #2 Mckean. All games will tip off at 6 p.m. at the site of the higher seed.
Due to COVID-19, #4 Dover and #1 Caesar Rodney were declared the co-champions in 2020 after the tournament was cancelled. Glasgow High School won the DIAA Unified Basketball Championship in 2019.
Ticket Information 
Most DIAA State Championship games will allow two fans per player from each home and away team. Spectators are encouraged to check each host school’s website to determine each contest’s fan policy as some sites do differ.  
Quarter-Final Rounds - $5.00 Students (K-12) and Adults
Semi-Final Round - $6.00 Students (K-12) and Adults
Final Round - $7.00 Students (K-12) and Adults
Live Streaming
NFHSNetwork is the official partner of the DIAA State Championship and will select certain games to stream live. This year, member schools are permitted to provide live video coverage of the post-season tournament contest. Broadcast fees apply except for livestreams by school-owned websites or school controlled webpages.

Media is permitted at events. We ask that media contact member schools for entry and placement of media depending on the layout of the facility, including how many people are permitted in the facility due to social distancing regulations. Only media with a DIAA 2020-2021 credential will be permitted entry.
Media should contact DIAA in advance to request live broadcast at any event. DIAA will notify member schools when requests have been approved. For media credential requests, media shall apply for credentials through the DIAA website.
