DIAA FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES ARE SET
 
Dover, DE (December 14, 2020) – The Football Semifinals of the 2020 Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) Championship concluded this weekend and the teams who will be playing for a DIAA State Championship in both Divisions are set. The Championship games in both divisions will be played on Saturday, December 19 at Dover High School. The Division I game will kick off at 12pm and the Division II game will start at 4:30 pm.

Friday, December 11
 
DI: #4 Sussex Central beat #1 Smyrna, 38-34
 
DII: #2 Howard beat #3 Red Lion, 34-13
 
Saturday, December 12
 
DII: #1 Archmere beat #4 Woodbridge, 31-22
 
DI: #2 Middletown beat #3 St. George’s, 13-7
 
DIAA FOOTBALL - CHAMPIONSHIP
 
DI: #2 Middletown vs. #4 Sussex Central, 12pm 
 
Middletown is seeking it’s 4th championship in school history, last winning the title in 2012, 2011, and 2007. Sussex Central is playing for it’s 2nd championship in school history, last winning the title in 2018.  
 
DII: #1 Archmere vs. #2 Howard, 4:30pm
 
Howard is looking to defend it’s state title from 2019 and win it’s 3rd title in the last 5 years.  
Archmere is playing for their fourth State Championship in school history, previously winning in 1982, 1980 and 1979.  
 
 
UNIFIED FLAG FOOTBALL
 
Unified Football’s semifinals are scheduled for Tuesday, December 15. Games will be played at the higher seeded team. See below for Tuesday’s schedule. The Unified Football Championship will be held on Friday, December 18th at the higher seeded team.

#1 Dover will host Smyrna, 3pm
 
#2 Caesar Rodney will host #3 Cape Henlopen, 7pm
 

 
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and adhering to guidelines from the State, DPH and DIAA, this year's tournament games are hosted by the higher seed teams. DIAA member schools will follow guidelines released in the Third Revision to the 27th Modification, adhering to gathering restrictions and their approved DPH facility plans. Member schools where permitted, will allow spectators at events. DIAA will work with member schools with livestream capability to stream the events.
 
Ticket Information 
 
Most DIAA State Championship games will allow two fans per player from each home and away team. Spectators are encouraged to check each host school’s website to determine each contest’s fan policy as some sites do differ.  
 
Semifinal Round - $6.00 Students (K-12) and Adults
 
Final Round - $7.00 Students (K-12) and Adults

Media
 
Media is permitted at events. We ask that media contact member schools for entry and placement of media depending on the layout of the facility, including how many people are permitted in the press box due to social distancing regulations. Only media with a DIAA 2020-2021 credential will be permitted entry.
 
Media should contact DIAA in advance to request live broadcast at any event. DIAA will notify member schools when requests have been approved.  
 
For state tournaments, broadcast request media should contact the Executive Director and for media credential requests, media shall apply for credentials through the DIAA website.
