  • Future educators win state honors

    Teacher Academy students in Early Childhood Education and K12 Pathways recently attended the first ever virtual Educators Rising conference, where this year’s theme Be A Champion prompted equity-focused workshops and inspiring keynotes. Competing, learning, celebrating and building a community of future change makers, attendees heard from both student and educational leaders who support a diversified and culturally competent teacher pipeline.

  • Six Delaware teachers named finalists for national teaching award

    The Delaware Department of Education has named six Delaware teachers as state finalists for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST), the highest recognition that K-12 STEM teachers can receive for outstanding teaching in the United States. Finalists’ applications will now move forward to the national level for final selection of the 2021 PAEMST Awardees.

  • Statewide content filtering system to better protect students online

    Delaware families will be able to better protect their students’ online activity thanks to a new statewide content filtering and student safety system. The system, a recommendation of the Delaware Council on Educational Technology, will provide services to all public school students beginning next school year. In addition to blocking student access to inappropriate content, the system also has the ability to detect student safety and self-harm concerns. It will work on school-owned devices regardless of location and on all devices using a school account and/or on school networks.

  • Bunting names top high school seniors 2021 Secretary Scholars

    Secretary of Education Susan Bunting has honored 90 public school students from the Class of 2021 as Secretary of Education Scholars. While the Delaware Department of Education was unable to host its traditional banquet to honor the scholars due to COVID-19 restrictions, the scholars are being recognized on a website (https://www.doe.k12.de.us/scholars_2021) to showcase their outstanding achievements.

  • Student leaders announce Delaware STEM contest results

    Delaware Technology Student Association (DETSA) leaders announce the Virtual State Awards Ceremony results for 2021. Middle schools and high schools from throughout Delaware participated in advanced contests such as: architectural design; biotechnology; coding; cybersecurity; data science and analytics; digital video production; engineering design; fashion design and technology; forensic technology; geospatial technology; inventions & innovations; mechanical engineering; medical technology; music production technology; STEM animation; photographic technology; system control technology; website design; video game design; and more.
