Delaware FFA members receive state, national recognition

Students from across Delaware are being honored for their agricultural knowledge and skills. Formerly called the Future Farmers of America, today’s FFA organization is a youth leadership association focused on all facets of agriculture, including science and technology. The following members and chapters have won accolades:

National Agriscience Competitors 

The following students were selected to compete at the 88th National Agriscience Convention this October in Louisville, KY:

 ·         Julia Lloyd and Shreeyah Parekh  of Appoqunimink School District’s Waters Middle School FFA (Food Products and Processing Systems Division 3)

·         Joshua Bethard and Madison Cook of Caesar Rodney School District’s Caesar Rodney High School FFA (Social Systems - Division 4)

·         Angela Poole and Riley McQuaide of Capital School District’s Central Middle FFA (Social Systems - Division 3)

·         Gretchen Fruehstorfer and Camille Olsen of Newark Charter School’s FFA (Animal System – Division 3)

·         Shu-Jin Kust of Newark Charter School’s FFA (Plant Systems - Division 1)

·         Elizabeth Zacharia of Newark Charter School’s FFA (Social Systems - Division 2)

·         Paige Wilkins of Newark Charter School’s FFA (Plant Systems - Division 2)

·         George Class-Peters and Erica Malloy of Smyrna School District’s Smyrna FFA (Environmental Services/Natural Resource Systems - Division 3)

·         Guy Doron and Kayla Johnson of Smyrna School District’s Smyrna FFA (Power, Structural, and Technical Systems - Division 4)

Two-Star Chapters

The National FFA Organization rated the following chapters two stars:

 ·         Smyrna FFA

·         Lake Forest FFA

·         Seaford FFA

American FFA Degree

The American FFA Degree is the highest degree a FFA member can achieve. It is the final step in an FFA degree system that encourages personal growth and achievement towards establishing an agricultural career. Only a small percentage of FFA members ever attain this degree. The following students earned the American FFA degree:

National FFA Chorus

Caitlin Wilson of Christina School District’s Glasgow FFA was selected to participate in the National FFA Chorus during the 88th National FFA Convention.
