• Remote Learning Resources

    Purpose And Background

The following resources are being provided to districts and charters as remote learning becomes a need for educators and students in the State of Delaware. These resources provide support in the following areas: planning considerations for remote learning environments, high quality instructional resources for remote learning, supporting learners with special needs, and supporting connectivity.

Remote Learning occurs when the learner and instructor, or source of information, are separated by time and distance and therefore cannot meet in a traditional classroom setting. Information is typically transmitted via technology (email, discussion boards, video conference, audio bridge) so that no physical presence in the classroom is required; otherwise, it would be Hybrid or Blended Learning. Remote learning can occur synchronously or asynchronously. Also referred to as Distance Education, Virtual Instruction, or Remote Training (https://trainingindustry.com/glossary/remote-learning/)

The resources compiled within this guide are a compilation of materials gathered by local, national, and state experts including but not limited to CCSSO, TNTP, Instruction Partners, and other state agencies. These options are intended as supplemental resources to the districts’ and charters’ primary curricular resources and learning materials. The decision to use other resources outside of existing primary materials and curriculum should be made intentionally and only as specific needs or obstacles are identified.

This document will be updated regularly and shared with Delaware educators. As we work together, districts and charters will have the opportunity to contribute to this document as well. These resources are meant for teacher support in providing instruction rather than as student activities.
