Delaware Department of Education serves as a State Approving Agency (SAA) for the Department of Veterans Affairs to grant approval and supervision of programs of education and training under the GI Bill. The agency is under annual contract with the US Department of Veteran Affairs to provide for these services ensuring that veterans and other eligible persons have access to high quality programs of education and training.
The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs awards benefits under the GI Bill for qualified education and on-the-job/apprenticeship training programs. The Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs, an office of the Delaware Department of State, is dedicated to assisting veterans and their family members in obtaining benefits and working with other government agencies and civic organizations to facilitate assistive services. The Commission is an advisory board appointed by the Governor to represent Delaware's veterans. The Commission coordinates programs and objectives in State-wide advocacy for veterans affairs.
