Delaware Professional Standards Board
Since 2000, the Professional Standards Board (PSB) has been charged with working in conjunction with the Delaware Department of Education (DDOE) to develop a system of professional development, professional standards, licensure, and certification designed to continually improve the quality of instruction for Delaware’s children in Delaware public schools. The PSB’s two standing committees are:
- Licensure and Certification Criteria Committee - Charged with implementing a four-tiered licensure system to help ensure that all Delaware educators are well-qualified and meet high standards of professional competence. Requires educators to participate in a minimum of 90 clock hours of high-quality professional development over a period of five years to be eligible for continuing licensure.
- Professional Development and Associated Compensation Committee – Makes recommendations on the types of professional development and professional responsibilities that qualify educators for additional salary increments. Ensures educators access professional development and professional responsibilities that enhance student learning and continuously improve the quality of teaching and educational leadership in Delaware schools.
