  • School Health Services is an essential component of the overall school program that supports the individual health and well-being of each student through quality nursing services provided by professional school nurses.  In Delaware, a full-time school nurse is available to all students in every public school.  The Delaware school nurse is a highly qualified professional, who minimally holds a bachelor's degree in nursing, is a Registered Nurse (R.N.), has three years clinical experience and obtains Delaware certification in school nursing.  School nurses work closely with students, their families, staff and community partners to help students fully participate in school and its varied activities.

  • The CPR/AED Recommendation document was created by the Child Death Review Commission, Chronic Health Conditions of School Age Children Committee and finalized in Spring 2019. The committee members included representatives from various agencies such as the Delaware Department of Education, Delaware Division of Public Health, Nemours, Christiana Care Health Systems, Bayada Health and Delaware School Nurses. The purpose of this document is to support school districts and charter schools as they develop written, school-level protocols for CPR and AEDs. The process is outlined on how to obtain and replace existing AED models, training, maintenance, monitoring and development of a Cardiac Emergency Response Communication Plan.
