Nomination Statement
“Mackenzie, daughter of Chris and Lori Irelan of Harbeson, is a model student and an empathetic person. She has maintained a GPA above 4.0 and has taken one of the most challenging schedules available including 8 AP courses as well as dual enrollment options. She was named 2019 Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Student of the Year Candidate. She is involved in numerous other organizations such as National Honor Society, Ducks Unlimited, and Varsity Softball. Mackenzie plans to major in political science and will attend The United States Military Academy at West Point.”
Throughout high school I have been motivated by my passion for service. I had the incredible opportunity to travel multiple times to Kenya and the Dominican Republic where I have witnessed the sheer power of education. These experiences have reminded me to never take education for granted. My drive to serve has motivated me to put others before myself and persevere in order to follow my dreams of continuing my education and becoming an officer in the United States Army.
