Nomination Statement
“Megan Hopkins, daughter of Amy Hopkins, is DSD’s 2020 Valedictorian. Megan is extremely active in her school and community - she volunteers with numerous local and national organizations, including the Junior National Association of the Deaf. Megan is also a force on the volleyball and basketball courts, and has earned several Most Improved and Most Dedicated Player awards. Megan’s quiet grace and leadership make her a natural role model who draws other students toward her. In the fall, Megan will be majoring in counseling or physical therapy at Gallaudet University.”
What influenced me to do well in school? I have had many health-related and other challenges in life, but I have always been focused on building a good future for myself. I keep myself busy and focused on my grades, which will help me get into college and reach my goals. I always want to improve. I try to set a good example for younger students who may want to follow in my footsteps.
