• Delaware’s vision is that every learner across the state leaves school ready for success in college, career, and life.  In order to achieve this vision, teachers must provide students with high-quality, standards-aligned instruction every day. For teachers to be fully prepared for every lesson, school leaders must then provide teachers with standards-aligned instructional materials and the support needed to use those materials well.

The purpose of professional learning is to build all educators’ (administrators’, coaches’ and teachers’) capacity to create successful learning for each and every student.   Educators committed to high-quality professional learning hold high expectations and assess professional learning’s impact on educators and students.

  • Professional Learning Summit Series

The 2023 Delaware Professional Learning Summit Series continues DDOE’s commitment to supporting successful improvement efforts by providing school and district leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to develop these plans for high-quality professional learning for the 2023-2024 school year.   The Professional Learning Summit Series will take place virtually.

    • Monday March 13th and Thursday, March 16th, 3:00 - 4:30 pm:  Building Coherence:  A Critical Foundation

The summit is designed to provide practical guidance for evaluating the current health of the professional learning system and for planning and executing systemic approach to improvement efforts within an annual content specific professional learning plan in order to:

    • develop and communicate a shared understanding of the school’s and system’s strategic priorities and goals,
    • connect the professional learning to all other school and system improvement efforts,
    • eliminate silos or gaps between the multiple departments that support educators, and
    • center collaboration and collective responsibility.
