Alternative Educator Evaluation Systems

Application, Renewal, and Modification Information for SY 2019-20

  • The Department welcomes applications from Local Education Agencies (LEAs) interested in creating their own evaluation models and processes in the spirit of increasing differentiated educator support and accountability and, ultimately, increased levels of student achievement.  Applications may be for teacher, specialist, assistant principal, principal, district leader and/or superintendent evaluation systems.  All applications must comply with requirements outlined in Delaware state code and any additional guidance provided by the Delaware Department of Education.  All educator evaluation systems must be state-approved.

    Timeline & Key Dates for 2019-20 Application Season

    September 11, 2018 - Application Released

    February 15, 2019 - Intent to Apply Form Due to DDOE

    February & March 2019 - Information Sessions for LEAs with Intent to Apply

    March 29, 2019 - Application and All Accompanying Materials Due to DDOE

    May 10, 2019 - DDOE Provides Feedback on Application

    June 3, 2019 - Resubmitted Applications Due to DDOE (if required)

    July 8, 2019 - Delaware Department of Education Provides Application Decisions

    August 1, 2019 - All Approved Systems Must Provide Detailed Plans on the Design, Development, & Roll Out of their Observer Training & Credentialing Assessments
