School Climate and Discipline
The Delaware Department of Education (DDOE) fosters student engagement and learning by supporting a healthy school climate across all Delaware schools. DDOE believes students, families, and educators must work together to maintain a climate of respect, consideration, and good citizenship.
Delaware law requires school personnel to complete 12. 5 hours of approved non-academic training over a three-year period on:
- Child Abuse and Child Safety Awareness, Prevention, Detection and Reporting
- School Bullying Awareness and Prevention; Criminal Youth Gang Detection
- Suicide Awareness and Prevention
- Teen dating violence
In addition, any school personnel performing or reporting physical restraint procedures must complete training annually (performing) or at least once every three years (reporting).
