Welcome to Adult Education

Adult Education
  • Adult Education provides academic instruction to adults (16 years of age and older) who are out of school. Students who attend want to increase their skills in order to obtain a job or job promotion; access vocational training; enter college; support their children in school; and/or become more active in their communities. Through Adult Education, students can upgrade their Reading, Math and Writing skills; increase their English language proficiency; prepare for the GED® or complete their credits to obtain a State of Delaware high school diploma. Programs are available through the traditional classroom format or through virtual instruction.

Title II of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act contains the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act. In this section of the plan, the Delaware Department of Education develops a plan for providing the services outlined in the law. Every two years, the plan is revised as needed. It is now time to revise Delaware’s Adult Education Plan to reflect new understandings and updates from the original plan published in 2016.
