Safe and Supportive Environment (SSE): Substance Abuse
Educating our youth on the potential risks of using drugs and alcohol can enable them to make better choices. Adolescents are more likely to experiment with drugs and alcohol than adults. Preventing the start of negative behaviors in young people is an important foundation of every healthy family and community. Consistent messages about drugs and alcohol can prevent substance abuse. Effective prevention requires that we all ( schools, parents, peers, and the community) provide the same messages about alcohol, drugs, and tobacco repeatedly throughout childhood and adolescence.
