Position Classifications and Types of Employees
- The number of full-time classroom teachers in the State of Delaware increased .01 percent from 7,931 in 2005-06 to 7,938 in 2006-07. (Table 3)
- The number of full-time professional employees (excluding teachers) of the public schools of Delaware decreased by 2.0 percent from 2,047 in 2005-06 to 2,086 in 2006-07. (Table 14)
- The number of full-time skilled and service workers decreased by 3.5 percent from 4,789 in 2005-06 to 4,621 in 2006-2007. (Table 8)
Salary
Average salaries for classroom teachers increased from $52,486 in October 2005 to $54,503 in October 2006, representing an increase of 3.8 percent. (Table 8) (Only active employees are included in salary computations. Those on disability leave are not included.)
Race
- The percentage of minority classroom teachers for the State of Delaware increased by .8 percentage points from 12.6 to 13.4 percent over the previous year. (Table 1)
- New Castle County minority teachers increased by .1 percentage points from 15.5 to 15.6 percent. (Table 20)
- Kent County minority teachers increased by 1.7 percentage points from 12.4 to 14.1 percent. (Table 24)
- Sussex County minority teachers declined by .1 percentage points from 6.5 to 6.4 percent. (Table 28)
