The National Leaders’ Conference, co-sponsored by NAESP and NASSP, was held in Washington, D.C., July 23-26. The Delaware Association of School Administrators (DASA) Delegation (pictured below) spent Thursday, the 24th on the Hill meeting with our state congressmen and/or staff. The major topic of conversation centered on the NCLB. There is little chance the present version will be reauthorized before the end of the current session. Congressman Castle’s staff informed us that he would be introducing a bill prior to the August recess. Among other initiatives, the Act deals extensively with Growth Models, English Language Learners, and Students with Disabilities. (Note: Congressman Castle did, in fact, introduce HR 6632 titled “Improving No Child Left Behind for All Students Act.”)

With Senator Carper on the Hill are: L-R: Corey Miklus, Scott Reihm, Marian Wolak, Sen. Carper, Christine Alois, Juanita Wilson, Charles Sheppard, Jim Comegys.
