Title of Position: Field Agent, Spanish Language Immersion
Reports to: Director, Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development

Description of Position:
The Field Agent, Spanish Language Immersion is a full-time position in the Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development Workgroup in the Teaching and Learning Branch. Major responsibilities include the on-site assistance of implementing Spanish immersion programs across the state. Statewide travel is required.
Major Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with the Education Specialist for World Language Immersion and the Education Associate for World Languages to assist in the development and implementation of high-quality immersion programs across the state
- Collaborate with the Education Specialist for World Language Immersion to develop a standards-based, proficiency-oriented Spanish immersion curriculum, including designing curriculum support materials
- Provide technical assistance to classroom immersion teachers as well district and school-based administration on the implementation of immersion programs
- Collaborate with the Education Associate for World Languages, the Education Specialist for World Language Immersion and the Education Associates for Science, Mathematics and Social Studies to design and deliver high-quality professional development to Spanish immersion educators related to immersion education, including immersion teaching strategies, content-specific knowledge, using technology to enhance learning and strategies to help struggling learners
- Design and deliver informational sessions to parents on the benefits of immersion education and how parents can promote successful learning beyond the classroom
- Assist the Education Associate for World Languages and the Education Specialist for World Language Immersion to produce a report of program effectiveness by assessing program models and classroom instructional practices
- Advocate for immersion education across the state with multiple stakeholders
- Work cooperatively with other staff and workgroups in all areas to enhance and support of language learning as a tool for work force development
- Perform other duties as required by the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish immersion education, Spanish language or elementary certification with advanced-level proficiency in Spanish.
Experience:
- Three (3) years relevant work experience in elementary classroom teaching, immersion teaching or elementary world language teaching.
- Advanced-level language proficiency in Spanish
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other language
- Ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision
- Capable of setting priorities and working under pressure
- Ability to proactively problem-solve with professionalism
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with staff in a tactful, congenial and professional manner
- The successful candidate must be eligible for Delaware licensure and certification in Spanish meet Delaware’s PRAXIS I test of basic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics requirements; and a criminal background check is required.
- Valid driver’s license as statewide travel is required.
Salary:
Salary will be computed in accordance with the experience and training of the individual selected and in accordance with salary schedules for employees of the Department of Education. Direct deposit of payroll checks is a condition of state employment, and employees are paid on a lag pay schedule with the first payment made after approximately one month of employment.

A criminal background check is require The successful candidate must meet Delaware’s PRAXIS I test of basic skills requirements in reading, writing, and mathematics. The successful candidate must demonstrate during the interview process an understanding of diversity, educational equity and multicultural education. The successful candidate should expect to perform any other related activities needed to deliver the position’s key duties and responsibilities and follow any other instructions as defined by his/her supervisor.
