1. Title of Position: Education Associate, Health Career Sciences
2. Reports To: Director, Career, Technical & Title 1 Resources
3. Date of Employment: June 15, 2011

5. Description of Position: The Education Associate, Health Career Sciences is a member of the Career, Technical and Title I Resources Work group. The Education Associate, Health Career Sciences, is responsible for the supervision of approved Health Career education pathways offered in public middle and high schools in Delaware.
6. Major Responsibilities:
  • Provide program management for Title IV including funding, monitoring and technical assistance.
  • Provide leadership in DOE and district/charter crisis management, emergency preparedness and discipline.
  • Collaborate with schools and DOE staff to collect appropriate date, produce required statistical and programmatic reports, identify training needs and determine significant trends.
  • Ensure fiscal accountability for program funding.
  • Perform other programmatic activities as assigned.
7. Desired Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, public administration or a related field.
Experience:
  • Minimum of three years experience in educational, criminal justice, crisis response or related administration.
  • Experience with utilizing Microsoft SQL Server modules such as Analysis Services, Integration Services, and Reporting Services is required in order to develop reports needed for the Race to the Top program.
  • Experience working with schools, community agencies, and media is preferred.
Skills:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the use of computer technology and software utilization is required
  • Performs responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Capable of setting priorities and working in collaboration with others
  • Capable of setting priorities and working under pressure
  • Be able to proactively problem-solve with professionalism
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with staff in a tactful, congenial and personal manner
  • Must understand the Department’s organizational aims and objectives
  • Discretion and confidentiality are essential.
8. Salary:
Salary will be computed in accordance with the educational level and work experience of the individual selected and in accordance with salary schedules for employees of the Department of Education. Direct deposit of payroll checks is a condition for state employment and employees are paid on a lag pay schedule with the first payment made after approximately one month of employment.
9. Notes:
A criminal background check is required. The successful candidate must demonstrate in the interview process an understanding of diversity issues related to school climate and discipline. The successful candidate must meet Delaware’s PRAXIS I test of basic skills requirements in reading, writing and mathematics.
