Special Education
The mission of the Exceptional Children Group, in collaboration with other DOE units,is to provide the leadership to ensure that Delaware delivers an effective system of education for students with disabilities that is in full compliance with Federal and state laws. This mission is accomplished by having in place a legal framework, collaborative relationships, needs assessment, program supports, and monitoring to ensure that students receive a free and appropriate public education.
- *NEW* - FACES (Family Advocacy and Child Educational Services) Program to benefit children under the age of 6 with hearing impairments includes education in American Sign Language and (where desired by parents and educationally appropriate) spoken language instruction. Announcement,3/30/2012.
- FFY 2012 IDEA Part B Application - Neither proposed or final allocations have been provided by the USDOE. The proposed use of funds for FFY 2012 are made using the FFY 2011 interactive spread sheet and funding levels.
