Additional Resources
College Planning:
Developed with input from students, parents, teachers, college professors and employers, Yes YOU Can! is a public awareness campaign designed to support the Delaware Department of Education’s (DOE) Reaching Higher for Student Success initiative. Yes YOU Can! helps Delaware middle and high school students understand all the opportunities they have to succeed in life after high school.
The KnowHow2Go Campaign was created in partnership with the Lumina Foundation for Education, American Council on Education, and the Ad Council. The site provides information for students in middle school through high school and their parents. Parents, guardians, teachers, and guidance counselors can sign up for an e-newsletter written especially for them.
Graduate Students:
Project 1000 is a national program created to assist underrepresented students in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) fields of graduate study. Students may apply to up to 7 of the 88 participating Project 1000 institutions using one application at no charge.
Adult Learners:
The Electronic Campus, created by the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), is a comprehensive one stop source for information about higher education opportunities and services designed for adult learners and e-learners. Information is also available for traditional students.
Teachers:
SREB's Teacher Center helps teachers in Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) states search for online programs or courses, understand highly qualified standards in their states, prepare for a test, or find a job.
The Meritorious New Teacher Candidate (MNTC) designation is a symbol of excellence and recognizes meritorious performance in teacher preparation. It is an optional, voluntary designation, not a license, similar to the Merit Scholar designation or Distinguished Diploma for high school students. It is currently honored by four states of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Teachers Project – Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. MNTC teachers are eligible to teach in any one of the four Mid-Atlantic states for the duration of their license without having to meet any additional state requirements.
Scholarship Donors:
If your business or organization has a scholarship that you would like to promote, please contact Cynthia Kirkpatrick (ckirkpatrick@doe.k12.de.us) at the Higher Education Commission to find out about including your program in the Delaware Scholarship Compendium for fall 2009, or you may complete the Scholarship Description Form (Word or PDF) and return it to the Commission by mail or fax. The Compendium is distributed to high schools throughout Delaware each fall.
