21st Century Community Learning Centers
The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 transferred the administration of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) program from the United States Department of Education to individual state departments of education. The 21st CCLC program represents a significant opportunity for students and their families to continue to learn new skills and discover new abilities in out-of-school time. The 21st CCLC program focuses on helping children and youth in high poverty schools in need of improvement to succeed academically through the use of research based practice and extended learning time. The 21st CCLC community center is a partnership between a local school district and other agencies.
A community learning center offers academic, artistic, and cultural enrichment opportunities to students and their families when school is not in session. A community learning center assists students in meeting State and local academic achievement standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and mathematics, by providing the students with opportunities for academic enrichment.
To ease the process of collecting, monitoring, and reporting data, the U.S. Department of Education contracted with Learning Point Associates to design and develop the Profile and performance Information Collection System (PPICS) database. The PPICS database provides information on Delaware's 21 grantees. To find out information about the grantees. Click on the following link: PPICS
