National Common Core Standards in ELA and Math available for Public Comment
Today, March 10th, a draft of the K-12/College & Career Ready National Common Core Standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics is available for review and public comment on the website http://www.corestandards.org/. Please follow this web link to the documents.
The public comment period closes on Friday, April 2. The Common Core working group members at the Council of Chief State School Officers and the National Governors Association will review all feedback received. A final revised version of the Standards documents has a planned release in April of this year. All of the 47 states involved in this collaborative effort have made the commitment to review these standards for adoption. In Delaware, Secretary of Education Lowery and members of the State Board of Education will review the proposed standards along with public comment received.
The Delaware Department of Education is currently planning to offer at least one webinar in the next two weeks to present an overview and details of these proposed standards, with time for questions and comments. Details on this webinar will follow. Questions on the webinar may be directed to Dr. Mike Stetter at mstetter@doe.k12.de.us.
