Workshops for 2nd and 3rd Year NBC Candidates
DOE is offering three workshops for second and third year NBC candidates.
The dates and times for the three workshops are:
- Saturday, December 8, 2007, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Focus: Planning Session.
- Saturday, January 12, 2008, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Focus: Portfolio Entries Not Requiring a Video Tape
- Saturday, February 2, 2008, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Focus: Video Tape Portfolio Entries.
All workshops will be held in Conference Rooms A and B at the John W. Collette Education Resource Center, 35 Commerce Way, Dover. Directions to the Collette Center are at: http://www.doe.k12.de.us/aboutdoe/location/default.shtml. Once at this site, click on “Directions” under “Auxiliary Office.”
The doors to the Collette Center will close at the start of the workshops, so please allow sufficient travel time.
Important! Educators must register for these workshops. Click here for the registration form.
Only educators with all required materials and a confirmed registration in-hand will be allowed to attend the workshops.
Educators are to bring the following to each workshop that they attend.
- A copy of their NBPTS score report
- The Scoring Handbook
- The Scoring Guide for their certificate area .
Also, educators are to bring the following to the second and/or third workshop.
- The complete portfolio directions for each retake entry.
The expectation is that educators will have reviewed their score report carefully, studied the Scoring Handbook and relevant sections of the Scoring Guide, and appraised their portfolio entry relative to the Scoring Guide and Handbook and the requirements for each retake entry.
It would be especially helpful if educators could fax their score report to either Mary Ellen Kotz or Patricia Bigelow (fax: 302-739-5894) before the first workshop.
Educators can address questions about the Awareness Meetings or eligibility requirements to:
- Patricia Bigelow, pbigelow@doe.k12.de.us
- Mary Ellen Kotz, mkotz@doe.k12.de.us
The purpose of the workshops is to help educators make an informed decision about their continued candidacy and to develop specific plans for improving portfolio entries.
