Strategies to Enhance School Climate
- Implement Positive Behavior Support.
- Infuse Partners In Excellence (PIE) in Positive Behavior Support schools to create a seamless system (Pre-K to 12).
- Include all staff in professional development concerning character development, anti-bullying and diversity.
- Use 21st Century programs to support students.
- Use Even Start programs to support pre-school children.
- Participate in the Delaware School Climate Survey and use data to guide decisions for school improvement.
- Integrate health, nutrition, and physical activity components with Positive Behavior Support professional development activities.
- Participate in professional development and technical assistance for creating and implementing Emergency/Crisis Plans.
- Integrate before and after-school programming with “regular” school goals.
- Invite the Delaware National Guard Drug Demand Reduction Unit to provide Project Adventure activities.
- Participate in Indoor Air Quality training.
- Participate in professional development and technical support in the area of Safety Inspections/Evaluations.
- Integrate the Student Success Plans (SSP) program to provide a wide range of tools to enhance the experience for students, their families and aid educators in guiding students.
- Provide annual in-service training for school bus drivers and aides
